An assembly is a group of members of an organization who meet periodically to make decisions about a specific area or scope of the organization.
Assemblies hold meetings, some are private and some are open. If they are open, it is possible to participate in them (for example: attending if the capacity allows it, adding points to the agenda, or commenting on the proposals and decisions taken by this organ).
Examples: A general assembly (which meets once a year to define the organisation's main lines of action as well as its executive bodies by vote), an equality advisory council (which meets every two months to make proposals on how to improve gender relations in the organisation), an evaluation commission (which meets every month to monitor a process) or a guarantee body (which collects incidents, abuses or proposals to improve decision-making procedures) are all examples of assemblies.

The Students' Council is a democratic body representing the student perspective in OpenEU. It ensures the students’ interests and voices are included in OpenEU boards and activities and delivers recommendations for the strategic direction of the OpenEU Alliance as part of the Executive Board (ExBo). Its responsibility is to articulate the OpenEU student and alumni community’s views and to designate student representatives in the OpenEU governing and managing bodies. The Students' Council will also be involved in continuous monitoring and improvement processes.
Composition
The OpenEU Student Council is composed of student representatives from each member university of the Alliance, with a minimum of two and ideally three students per university delegation.
All the representatives are specifically designated following the procedure established by their home student council or, if not applicable, by their university.
All Student Council members have equal rights and an equal voice in discussions.
The Student Council is committed to upholding principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion, as well as all the values included in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (2000/C 364/01). Members of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences are welcomed, and the Council is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and empowered to contribute.
Members of the Student Council are not remunerated for their service; however, they do receive compensation for expenses related to attending meetings.
Each institution has the autonomy and discretion to ensure the participation of its students in the OpenEU Student Council.
