OpenEU reinforces its European commitment at the 3rd Forum of University Alliances in Wrocław

On 12–13 June, the OpenEU alliance participated in the 3rd Forum of European University Alliances, held at the University of Wrocław under the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The forum brought together over 50 alliances, along with representatives from EU institutions and national authorities, to debate the long-term future of the European Universities Initiative and its contribution to building a more integrated and transformative European Education Area.

OpenEU was represented by Pastora Martínez Samper, Coordinator of the alliance, who took part in the high-level session “From European University to European Degree”. She shared her insights alongside representatives from the German and Norwegian Erasmus+ agencies, France Universités and the Erasmus Students’ Network. The session addressed the challenges and opportunities in developing joint European degree programmes, with a focus on national coordination and systemic alignment.

“European University Alliances bring the potential to evolve from a project-based model to a stable framework of long-term cooperation”, said Martínez Samper.

OpenEU is also an active member of FOREU4all, the collective voice of alliances. During the forum, FOREU4all contributed to key sessions, including the opening panel and the final roundtable on systemic transformation.

By actively participating in policy forums like this, OpenEU strengthens its role as a driver of educational transformation across Europe.
