The OpenEU Rectors’ meet in Cyprus
The OpenEU Alliance has officially begun its journey toward establishing the first pan-European Open University. The first OpenEU rectors' meeting after the European Commission's decision to grant funds to the initiative was held during the Innovating Higher Education Conference 2024, organised by EADTU and hosted by Open University of Cyprus and has brought together the Rectors and teams of the ten member universities.
During the meeting, which took place on October 25 in Limassol, the OpenEU alliance discussed the final arrangements before the official start of the work plan, on December 1, and the participants reviewed and discussed key aspects of the project’s foundational elements. Topics included the governance and operational structure of OpenEU, details on the consortium agreement, and other requirements for the effective implementation of the launched phase of the project.
This meeting in Limassol set a solid foundation for OpenEU’s ambitious agenda, and partners are now fully aligned to bring this transformative educational vision to life. Stay tuned for updates as the #OpenEU project takes off, building a connected, inclusive, and digitally-forward higher education landscape across Europe.
