The OpenEU European University Alliance, reaffirming its commitment to the future of higher education in Europe, is participating in the 13th European Distance Education Summit EADTU-EU 2025, which will take place on 14 May in Brussels. Under the slogan "Interoperability in action: connecting European higher education", the summit will focus on strategies to strengthen collaboration, digital harmonization and interoperability among higher education institutions across Europe.

The participation of the OpenEU in the event highlights its commitment to finding innovative solutions to European challenges in the fields of knowledge, technology and alliances. In this context, various representatives from the alliance will be speaking, including:  EADTU’s President and Open Universiteit’s Rector Theo Bastiaens, UOC’s Rector Àngels Fitó; Pastora Martínez Samper, Commissioner for International Action; and Carme Pagès, Director of the Labour Market Research and Analysis Unit at UOC. Their participation is framed within OpenEU, the alliance of open and distance European universities coordinated by the UOC.

This annual summit, organized by EADTU (European Association of Distance Teaching Universities), is a networking opportunity for experts and leaders in European higher education, bringing together key stakeholders such as governments, the European Commission, the European Parliament and university networks to discuss the future of higher education in Europe.
