As part of the first formal meeting of the Group of Spanish Universities in European Universities, OpenEU reinforces its leadership in building a digitally connected European Higher Education Area..

The 1st Forum of the Group of Spanish Universities in European Universities (UEUE) took place on 4–5 November 2025 at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. This milestone event brought together representatives from 55 Spanish universities, all participating in European University Alliances, along with national, regional, and European stakeholders.

The forum aimed to strengthen cooperationexchange best practices, and promote joint initiatives that enhance the quality and transformation of higher education within the European Universities Initiative.

OpenEU played an active role in this first edition.

  • Pastora Martínez Samper, UOC Commissioner and OpenEU Coordinator, participated as Vice-President of the UEUE.

  • Àlex Hinojo, Secretary General, contributed with a presentation on the European Higher Education Interoperability Framework, highlighting OpenEU’s efforts to advance seamless digital learning across Europe

  • Representatives from UOC and UNED, the two Spanish universities in OpenEU, joined the forum symbolizing shared commitment and collaboration

The participation of OpenEU in the UEUE Forum underscores the alliance’s dedication to cross-border cooperation, digital transformation, and the vision of an open European learning space.
