Co-creating to transform higher education: OpenEU at EAIE 2025

How is higher education transforming Europe and creating new pathways for global collaboration? This will be a central question at the 35th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the European Association for International Education (EAIE), taking place in Gothenburg from 9 to 12 September 2025.

This year’s edition will feature a record participation of over 35 European University Alliances—nearly double compared to 2024—representing more than 300 higher education institutions. Together, they showcase the evolution and growing impact of the European Universities Initiative, launched in 2019 by the European Commission and now bringing together 65 alliances and 8 Seal of Excellence alliances. As part of this ecosystem, OpenEU will also be present.

With the theme “Go-Create”, EAIE 2025 underlines the pioneering role of the European Universities alliances in shaping a more inclusive, innovative, and collaborative European higher education area.
