Attendees

Dear friends of democracy,

In just a few days, the OpenEU Festival 2026, "The Open Canvas of Democracy," opens its doors. From October 23 to 25, students, researchers, artists and activists from across Europe and beyond will gather online to explore democracy as something we live, practice and create together. We are so glad you will be part of it.

HOW TO JOIN

Your personal Join button is in an email from Zoom, sent to this same inbox, the email address you registered with. Please take a moment to find it now and check your spam or promotions folder if you don't see it.

On the day:

1. Click the Join button in your Zoom email. It will take you to the festival lobby.

2. In the lobby, you will find three options, one for each day of the festival: Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

3. Choose the day you are participating as an option to enter the live program.

The talks run continuously throughout the day, one after another, so there is nothing else to choose or book. Come and go as you wish. If you leave, just click the same button again to come back, as many times as you like.

Can't find your Zoom email? Go to events.zoom.us, sign in with this same email address, open your festival ticket and click "Join Lobby."

 HOW TO PARTICIPATE

  • You can interact in our chat with our ChatDJs

  • You can work in our Miro board, parallel to our sessions, during the whole event! (if you are using a phone, it is better to install the app): https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVHlWp7Ng=/?share_link_id=897613392804

  • You can make questions through our Q&A

  • You can raise your hand so you can ask a question to the speaker

A NOTE ON SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION

We owe you an honest apology. We made a rookie mistake in planning our interpretation schedule. International Sign interpretation will cover the whole festival, with two exceptions:

- Saturday afternoon: only selected talks will be interpreted.

- Sunday morning: only one workshop will be interpreted.

For details on which sessions are covered, or for any accessibility request, write to us at openeufestival@gmail.com. We are sorry, and we are learning from it.

THE FESTIVAL SORTITION: ACTIVATE THE KLEROTERION

In ancient Athens, the kleroterion was the machine that chose citizens by lot to serve their democracy. We are bringing it back: during the festival, attendees will be selected at random as our 2026 Festival Representatives.

To take part:

- Attend at least one session

- Follow us on Instagram: @OpenEU and @OpenEUfestival

Each elected representative will receive one Festival Token. The representatives will be announced on our social media.
