"University without leaving home": Rector Margrét Jónsdóttir featured on the Future of Learning platform
Dr. Margrét Jónsdóttir Njarðvík, Rector of Bifröst University, was recently featured in an interview titled "Access to university studies without leaving your home: Iceland’s bold experiment in inclusive learning."
The feature appeared in the Skellefteå Universities Alliance (SUA) through their Future of Learning platform, a forward-thinking organization dedicated to solving the skills challenges of tomorrow through flexible and accessible academic models.
The Future of Learning series explores how hybrid and regional models are revolutionizing the educational landscape. Their latest focus is on a critical mission: making higher education truly inclusive by ensuring that geography, income, and digital access are no longer barriers to learning.
In their search for compelling examples of this mission in action, SUA identified the Open European University (OpenEU) project as a flagship initiative. As the only Nordic participant in this groundbreaking scheme, Bifröst University was invited to share its unique perspective and expertise.
In the interview, Rector Margrét Jónsdóttir Njarðvík provides deep insights into how Bifröst is contributing to the OpenEU vision. She discusses the vital role of distance learning in democratizing education and how our university is helping to build a pan-European model that adapts to the diverse needs of modern learners.
